WHY "SEMBANG"?
In Malaysia, football is something you talk about. At the mamak after a late kick-off, in the office group chat on Monday morning, in the WhatsApp group that goes quiet after a bad result. Sembang United is a home for that conversation.
Most English-language United coverage is written for fans in the UK. Matches here kick off at 8pm, 10pm, midnight or 3am, and we watch on Astro and sooka, not Sky. This site is written for that.
WHO'S BEHIND IT
I'm Otai Red, a long-time United fan based in the Klang Valley.
I've supported United since the early '90s, when Mark Hughes, Steve Bruce, Bryan Robson and Andrei Kanchelskis were in the side and the Class of '92 was coming through. I grew up through United's rise under Sir Alex Ferguson, and witnessed the professionalism, the winning mentality and the many great players who graced Old Trafford.
I want United to reclaim their former glory by going back to the foundations that made the club the footballing force it once was.
I write the previews, reviews and opinion pieces myself. Sembang United is independent: no club, broadcaster or betting company is behind it.
WHAT YOU'LL FIND HERE
- Match previews with team news and kick-off times in Malaysian time.
- Match reviews the morning after, so you can catch up if you slept through a 3am game.
- Fan player ratings after every match. Members rate each player out of 10, and the fans pick their Man of the Match.
- FPL corner with gameweek picks.
- Sembang: opinion, press conference round-ups and the occasional rant.
WHAT THIS SITE ISN'T
Sembang United is an unofficial fan site. It is not run by, connected to or endorsed by Manchester United, the Premier League or Fantasy Premier League. We don't try to beat the big outlets to breaking news. When we use news, quotes or stats from elsewhere, we say where they came from.
